A Year after ProActiv

It has been a year since I ordered ProActiv and 10 months since I sent it back. In this last year, I have been through blood sweat and tears and I still haven’t got my old skin back. I still have the scariest of breakouts. The one this I wanted that would cut down my use of make-up has increased it. My confidence has gone down so much, which is new for me because I used to preach the importance of first impressions and appearance. I watched and read a million and one reviews and I have tried all the tricks. But every morning, I wake up with a new problem on my face. It really is taking over my life, because with everywhere I go and everything I do, I just worry about my face.

The other day, I witnessed people staring at me, or maybe I’m being paranoid. Both are just as bad as each other to me. I have ruined my skin completely. I even feel like I have no pride left. I have used a whole lot of products in the last year and nothing has changed. I drink a lot more water now, I only eat brown bread. I only sleep on clean pillow cases, and I don’t sleep a wink with my make up on.

Here are most of the products I tried:

Garnier Pure 3in1 Wash, scrub and mask
Laidbare Organic 2in1 Cleanser and Toner
Clearasil daily wash
St Ives Apricot Scrub
Clean and Clear Daily Scrub
Dermalogica Skin Refining Mask
Clear Complexion Tablets
Calcium Sulphate Tablets
PanOxyl 5 Aquagel
Quinoderm
Witch Blemish Gel
Freederm Cleanser
Freederm Moisturiser
Clean & Clear Morning Energy Moisturiser
Aqueous Cream B.P
Fish Oil Omega 3,6 and 9 1500g

All this hasn’t been kind to my pocket as well as my brothers pocket.

What more can I do?

I am on one more product now, and if this can’t do it then I don’t know what will. I hear that this is the saviour of all skin. CETAPHIL. I have the Cetaphil Daily Cleanser for all skin types along with the moisturising lotion. Again, these products were not kind to my brothers pocket. I want to wait about a month before I give up on the product. It has been about a week now and I haven’t seen any improvements to be honest. Even though this is made for all skin types, there may be a possibility that this may only work with dry and sensitive skin. There is a myth that may be true or may not be true which probably depends on your skin type and that is the purging of the skin. And that is what I wish is happening now.
Purging of the skin means that when using a new acne product, the skin will break out more for a short period of time before the healing begins. It’s like getting all the bad stuff out first.

Along with this I still use my PanOxyl Aquagel after cleansing, and I have decided to use my Dermalogica Refining Mask once a week.

I watched a video on YouTube which is one of very few videos that are negative against Cetaphil, but this video was filled with facts about all the chemicals in the product that will have long term negative affects internally. This has stopped me from buying Cetaphil in the past but now it has come to a stage where I can’t be patient anymore, and I am desperate to have acne free skin.

I do want to go back to using organic products again. And hopefully I will one day. But I need to clear my skin up. It's bringing me down badly, and This is the last straw before I go see a dermatologist.
